Louisiana Watershed Initiative, Region 6 Watershed Plan
A ‘throw-back’ to the Company’s previous leadership and expertise on the State’s Louisiana Watershed Initiative (LWI), Desire Line is developing Region 6’s Watershed Plan in partnership with Moffatt & Nichol, Waggoner & Ball, Meyer Engineers, and Black Business Management.
The Desire Line Team’s direct experience working with the LWI, South Central Planning and Development Commission, and Region 6 is being leveraged to support planning and operational efforts region-wide via a focused and strategic workplan and schedule.
The Final Watershed Plan will be a land management and funding tool built upon a strong regional foundation, composed of the following plan components: (1) comprehensive risk analysis that advances the most impactful projects and avoids shifting flood risk to neighboring communities, (2) regional strategies that leverage planning, zoning, and floodplain policies and standards to effect region-wide benefits over time, and a (3) defined role of the Regional Coalition as a project funding advocate at the state and national level, supporting public education and outreach throughout the region, managing regional project selection processes, and maintaining commitment to watershed plan implementation over time.
